10 Lives Lost In Jigawa Road Accident

Information available to Nigeria News revealed that the victims of the accident were rescued by some NSCDC staff and few residents in the area where the accident occurred.

According to Shehu, his office have little information to dish out on the incident as the cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

A total of ten people have been recorded to have lost their lives in a fatal motor accident which occurred on Thursday at Majiya town, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

A Sharon minibus with number plates GWL 262 ZA and a Toyota Hilux van with number plates ZY 749 AGL were involved in the accident which also left 10 other people seriously wounded.

The sad incident was confirmed by DSC Adamu Shehu, a representative of the  Jigawa Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.

Information available to Nigeria News revealed that the victims of the accident were rescued by some NSCDC staff and few residents in the area where the accident occurred.

According to Shehu, his office have little information to dish out on the incident as the cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

Although, he noted that there was a light downpour in the area at the early hours of Thursday morning, while some eyewitness who pleaded anonymity disclosed that the accident was as a result of over speeding which led one of the drivers of the vehicles involved to have lost control.

The bodies of those who died in the accident have been taken to the mortuary while the others who sustained injury were immediately rushed to a government hospital for proper medical care, as disclosed by Shehu.

In his words, “At the time of giving this report, 10 people were confirmed dead; they include two children, one woman, and seven men.”

“Ten others also sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for prompt medical attention.”

“The bus is a commercial vehicle, while the van belongs to Wazobia Global Broadcasting and Communication FM.”

Efforts are however being made to contact the families of the deceased and those hospitalized for identification of their relatives.
