On Monday Justice Adedayo Akintoye at Lagos High Court in Igbosere issued a seat warrant for the capture of an ex-Super Eagle Star, Augustine Okocha over supposed tax avoidance. Jay Jay Okocha was charged for inability to settle a tax in 2017, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
On January 29, 2019, a similar court requested Okocha’s capture for flopping severally to show up in court to protect himself on the claim of tax avoidance brought against him.
The investigator, Dr. Jide Martins had on June 6, 2017, documented the charge and when the case came ready for hearing on October 5, 2017, the litigant did not show up in court.
The indictment had told the court that the respondent had neglected to outfit the Lagos State Internal Revenue Board with the arrival of Income for duty purposes.
He said that the offenses repudiated Sections 56 (an) and (b) of the Lagos State Revenue Administration Law No.8, 2006 and Section 94 (I) of the Personal Income Tax Act Cap P8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
