Walter Onnoghen resigned on Thursday, 4th April 2019 and thereby now state the reason he resigned is to fulfill the interest of the judiciary, reported by his lawyer Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN. He further stated that the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, resigned because of the judiciary.
Agboyega stated as follows “I have just spoken with him. He confirmed to me that he resigned yesterday. He said he resigned in the interest of the judiciary,”
NIGERIA NEWS researched and come out with the fact that Onnoghen is expected to retire in 2020, and it might have foreseen that if he is dismissed, it might deprive him to be able to receive some entitlement such as 2.5 million cash, 100 million furnished house in Abuja, 300 percent of his annual income of about 3.3 million naira and also pension.
Onnoghen is filed with a six-count charge in which he has closed the case at the Code of Conduct Tribuna, CCT. The judgment has to be pass on April 15, 2019
