The Cross River State House of Assembly has confirmed Justice Michael Edem as the substantive Chief Judge of the state. The Speaker of the State Legislative arm, Sen John Gaul Lebo confirmed this yesterday.
Justice Edem’s confirmation followed a letter by the State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, to the Assembly requesting the confirmation of Justice Edem as new Chief Judge after months of holding the position in an acting capacity.
The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo, thus urged the new Chief Judge to be steadfast in the discharge of his duties, adding that herculean tasks await him in his new role.
Lebo expressed high optimism in the depth of intellect of the Chief Judge and his capacity to expertly and effectively pilot the affairs of the Judiciary in the state. He also pledged the continued support of the State House of Assembly to enable him to have a successful tenure as Chief Judge.
“I am very confident that Justice Edem would significantly up the ante in the dispensation of justice in the state,” the Speaker remarked.
