Early morning today around 04:56 a.m., 35 make shift shops at the Kurmin Yan-nama Market in Kano State were ruined by a fire outbreak with its cause still unknown, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
The spokesman of the Kano Sate Fire Service, Saidu Mohammed, confirming the incident said 27 of the shops were completely razed, while eight were slightly burnt.
“We received a distress call in the early hours of Sunday at about from one Ado Musa that there was fire outbreak at the market.
“On receiving the information, we quickly sent our personnel and firefighting vehicles to the scene of the incident at about 05:03 a.m to stop the fire from spreading to other shops,“ he said.
The spokesman has advised traders and residents of Kano State to be extra-careful and avoid the usage of items that could cause fire outbreaks, and to also keep fire buckets, blankets and extinguishers to suppress fire outbreaks if a situation ever occurred. instruments capable of triggering fire as a way of guarding against future occurrence.
