Fire struck a terminal building of the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri, Imo State on Monday. According to the info NIGERIA NEWS received, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu who happened to be the General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, reported that the fire outbreak occurred at around 2 pm and it was narrowly extinguished by Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN officers.
She reported when the Governor-elect of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha visited on Monday to survey the area.
Mrs Henrietta reported to the Governor-elect of Imo State as follows:
“There was no casualty and normal operations has since resumed at the airport.
“The authority has commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident,”
The Governor-elect then tweeted that:
