The planned assassination of Ike Ekweremadu has failed and he is presently safe. An unidentified gunman however is being held by the police in the state capital after he was arrested when there was an invasion of the residence of the deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.
The incident occurred in the early hours of today, when a group of men forced their way into Ike Ekweremadu’s apartment, but the arrested man has failed in his response as to why he forced his way into Ike Ekweremadu’s home.
At about 4am this morning, Senator Ikweremadu escaped assassination along with his wife and son attempt by unknown gunmen, a statement said. The armed men who invaded his home got through the security at Ekweremadu’s Apo Quarters residence as a route to enter his home.
The gunmen held fire and did not pull the trigger because they did not want to cause attention which could repel them and get them apprehended, held his son hostage and forced his son to lead them to the Ike Ekweremadu’s bedroom where he was.
When the gunmen got to Ike Ekweremadu’s bedroom, there was a fight there, which led to the arrest of one of the attempted assassins who was armed with dangerous weapons and tools which he used to break into the house, however, the rest of the armed group managed to escape when the arrest was made on one of the assassins.
The Abuja police have however taken over the case of the arrested assassins and further measure will be taken to drive out the mission of the gunman who was arrested. Recall that Ike Ekweremadu escaped assassination in Abuja on November 17 in the year 2015. Ike Ekweremadu escaped assassination and was present with his wife and his son when the gunmen broke into his house and he should be thankful he survived the assassination unhurt with his family.
Ike Ekweremadu escaped assassination expressed his displeasure at the Inspector General of Police because he revealed that he failed to reach the IG of Police on phone because his telephone was switched off. He has however, informed the police and they have taken over the matter as of now.
