Kano Rerun: 100 Lawyers Offer To Stand Up For PDP Pro Bono

Some lawyers in Kano have made it known to newsmen that they are ready to offer free service to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate who lost rerun conducted under a very compromised security on Saturday in order to contest at tribunal the declaration of the current governor of Kano as the winner of the election despite widespread of violence and intimidation of voters by imported thugs

 

The news was confirmed by the chairman of Kwankwasiyya Red Cap Rangers, International Movement for Justice, Senator Herssern Umar

 

Umar who claimed that the election was not free and fair who cited thuggery, vote-buying, lost of lives and other election misconducts were witnessed at virtually all the polling stations where INEC has announced that there would be a supplementary election

He went further by saying that over 100 lawyers have presented themselves to offer pro bone in order to challenge the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate and the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC for declaring a winner despite all the violence experience even though is the major reasons the first election was cancelled in those areas was because of violence.

He noted that they have all the necessary evidences to support their case to ensure that the court nullifies the re-run election and mandate INEC to declare Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf the winner.

NIGERIA NEWS reported that Abba Kabir-Yusuf, who was not pleased on under circumstances the elections were conducted has since said he would head to court as he rejected the rerun in its entirety.

Umar Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the keenly contested election with a low margin of 8,892 votes.

In the supplementary election, which was held in 28 LGAs on March 23, PDP garnered10,239 votes against 45,876 obtained by the incumbent governor under the platform of APC

Recalls that before the election was declared inconclusive the Peoples Democratic Party candidate in Kano state was leading in the state by 1,014,474 votes, while APC got 987,819 votes.

However, the 23 March supplementary election poll, the total figures for APC stood at 1,033,695 votes as against the 1,024,713 votes got by PDP.

Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Kabir Yusuf, had since said that he and his party, PDP will go ahead to the court to challenged Abdullahi Ganduje victory at the poll
