1. I’ve ended my 2019 governorship ambition in Rivers – Senator Abe
The Senator representing Rivers South-East District in the National Assembly, Magnus Abe, has declared an end to his 2019 governorship ambition in Rivers State.
This declaration followed last week’s Supreme Court judgement on the matter bordering on the 2019 governorship candidacy for the state All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections.
Abe spoke on Sunday at the APC stakeholders meeting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

4. FG approves commencement of work on Nigeria-Seme-Benin road
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, says the Federal Government has approved commencement of work on the Nigeria-Seme-Benin Republic road project.
Mr Hakeem Bello, the Special Adviser to the Minister on Communication, made this known in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
Fashola was quoted as disclosing this at the 12th Ministerial Steering Committee and Experts Meeting for the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor Highway Development Programme in Lome.
5. Benue: Police confirm assassination of PDP chieftain’s son
The Benue State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the assassination of one Orkuma Amaabai, son of PDP’S national ex-officio member, Prince Yandev Amaabai.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP. Ms Catherine Anene, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Makurdi, that the deceased was shot by unknown gunmen in Gboko at about 10pm on Saturday.
She said that the incident was reported on Sunday.
6. PDP dismisses APC’s claim on Atiku’s citizenship as diversionary
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sunday dismissed as reckless and groundless the claims made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is a Cameroonian.
It also said the claim was a calculated attempt by the APC to trivialize and divert attention from the compelling issue of their criminal rigging of the 2019 presidential election.
PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement, said it was a disingenuous claim designed by the APC to overburden, distract and bog down the presidential election petition tribunal with trivialities, lies and falsehood, so as to derail the course of justice.

The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu has accused the Governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi of foisting ‘weak’ executives on the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Four suspected cultists were killed during a clash between two rival cult groups of Aiye and Eiye in Ajah area of Lagos State on Sunday.
