1. Osinbajo departs Nigeria

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has departed Nigeria for Kigali, Rwanda.

The Vice President is to join other world leaders and top dignitaries to participate as a Special Guest in the ceremonies marking 25th National Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi holding today in Kigali.

This was disclosed in a statement by Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity in the Vice President’s office.

2. Details of Buhari, King of Jordan’s meeting emerge

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday met with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan.

He thanked the leader for the continuous support Nigeria received from the country to fight terrorism, saying the investment in Nigeria’s peace and security will always be remembered.

President Buhari, who met with King Abdullah II on the sideline of the World Economic Forum on Middle East and North Africa holding in Dead Sea, Jordan, said the international support Nigeria got, particularly from Jordan, showed commitment to making the world a more harmonious and peaceful place where people can live and pursue their interests without fear.

3. Zamfara killings: Air Force hits hard on killer bandits

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says the Air Task Force (ATF) for Operation DIRAN MIKIYA has successfully destroyed a bandits’ logistics base at Ajia in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja.

He said the ATF also neutralised dozens of the bandits at Ajia and Wonaka in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of the state.

4. Reps threaten to arrest Madonna University VC

The House of Representatives has threatened to forcefully make the Vice Chancellor (VC) of Madonna University, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Edeh, comply with its summon and appear before its committee on Public Petitions, if he failed to honour its invitation on or before April 9, 2019.

Others expected to appear with the VC include officials of the institution namely: Rev. Fr. Francis Nwachukwu, Rev. Fr. Francis Nginga and Mr Ogbonna Okey.

5. Buhari vs Atiku: Buba Galadima doesn’t exist – APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has reacted to claims made by a former chieftain of the party, Alhaji Buba Galadima, about the 2019 general elections.

Galadima had claimed that the APC and the presidency used the military and other state actors to rig the just-concluded presidential election in favour of the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari.

The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, told Vanguard that the former spokesperson of the Atiku Campaign Organization, simply does not exist to him.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mba Ekpezu Ukweni SAN, has advised the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed to shun tribalism and ethnicity and adhere to oaths of the office.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Saturday, he said “The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria is the most senior Justice of the Supreme Court and until President appoints a new person, let him lead the Judiciary properly.

“The Justices have their oaths of office, let him follow the oaths of office and work in accordance with the tenets of the constitution and shun tribalism and ethnicity”
