1. Buhari dies while undergoing treatment abroad

The remains of the father of former Speaker Federal House of Representative, Alhaji Salisu Buhari, was on Wednesday laid to rest in Kano.

The late business tycoon died in an Egyptian Hospital on Monday at the age of 83 after undergoing medical treatment, NAN reports.

His remains which was flown from Egypt, arrived Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Wednesday late evening and was received by family members and business associates.

2. Senate, Buhari on collision course

The Senate has said that the letter by President Muhammadu Buhari in which he claimed that the National Assembly’s approval for refunds to Delta and Taraba State Governments was different from what the Federal Executive Council approved, must have resulted from misinformation by his aides.

The Senate in a statement on Wednesday by Yusuph Olaniyonu Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to Senate President, Bukola Saraki, stated that the Senate approved the exact figures for Taraba and Delta States that was submitted to it by the Executive through the Ministry of Finance as stated on page 402 of a document titled “Federal Ministry of Finance Submission of Federal Government of Nigeria Outstanding Liabilities to National Assembly, May, 2018”.

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, has come under heavy criticism for releasing the names of five Nigerians arrested for alleged robbery in Dubai, UAE, with the intention of “stereotyping an ethnic group.”

Dabir-Erewa on Wednesday released the names of the Nigerians who were accused of robbing a Bureau De Change to the tune of Dh 2.3 million Dinars in Sharjah Area of Dubai.

State Returning Officer, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Professor Teddy Addia declared that Governor Wike poll 886,264 to defeat his closest rival Biokpomabo Awara of the AAC who polled 173,809.

The PDP presidential candidate, in his reaction, tweeted: “Congratulations Governor Nyesom Wike. It gives me much pleasure to see a political force such as yourself, overcome the anti-democratic forces of dictatorship and oppression.

7. Nipsey Hussle: Suspected killer, Eric Holder arrested as Laurel London breaks silence

The suspected killer of rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was shot dead outside his clothing store on Sunday, has been arrested.

Los Angeles police in a statement on Tuesday said that 29-year-old Eric Holder was taken into custody after a witness spotted him in Bellflower area of the state about 20 miles from the shooting scene.

The statement read: “Eric Holder, the suspected killer of Nipsey Hussle, has been arrested and is in police custody.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Taraba State University chapter, on Wednesday, resumed indefinite strike to press home its demands.

The union had embarked on a strike in 2018 but suspended it when the Taraba government promised to meet its demands which included the payment of earned academic allowances from 2014 till date, and the provision of required infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.

Dr Samuel Shikaa, the branch Chairman, and Dr Atando Agbu, the Secretary, in a statement shortly after the Executive Council Meeting with the national officials in Jalingo, said that the teachers would remain at home until the demands were met.
