1. Train crushes beggar to death in Lagos
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) on Monday confirmed that a passenger train crushed a beggar to death at Muslim area of Lagos.
Mr Jerry Oche, the Lagos District Manager (RDM) of the corporation,
made confirmation while addressing newsmen on the incident in Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that an Ijoko to Iddo bound Mass Transit Train crushed a beggar to death near the Mushin railway station on Monday morning.

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as bad loser in elections.

6. NAF jets degrades terrorists hideout in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has degraded an Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) Terrorists’ hideout in Northern Borno.
NAF’s spokesman, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said the operation was conducted on Monday.NAN reports
Daramola said the ATF also neutralised some of the ISWAP fighters at Tumbun Zarami in the Northern part of Borno.
7. FG commences process to collect tax from gaming businesses, lottery
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) have commenced process to automate the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) on lottery and gaming businesses in Nigeria.
Mr Wahab Gbadamosi, Head, Communications and SERVICOM Department, FRIS, made this known in a statement in Abuja on Monday.
Gbadamosi said that the agreement was sealed between the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Babatunde Fowler and operators of lottery businesses in Lagos on Monday.
8. JAMB: Govt urged to beef up security for 2019 UTME
The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has urged Ebonyi State Government to beef up security ahead of the 2019 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination in the state.
The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) being organised by JAMB is due to begin nationwide on Tuesday, April 9.
In a statement signed by its state Secretary, Mr. Jerry Oyibe in Abakaliki on Monday, the group said that the appeal was predicated on renewed boundary hostilities in some communities in the state that had led to loss of lives.

Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has announced the sack of all his aides and other political appointees.
A press release by the permanent secretary of the Abia government house, Elder Bernard Ogbonna, said the sack was necessary to pave way for the formation of a new team that will work with the governor upon his inauguration for a second term in office.

A group within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo State, Itesiwaju Oyo, on Monday berated Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state for urging members-elect from the state to support Hon. Hakeem Femi Gbajabiamila as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Itesiwaju Oyo in a statement made available to DAILY POST, described the move by Ajimobi, urging the members-elect from the state to support Gbajabiamila instead of other lawmakers from the state whom the group argued that, are also qualified for the position, as “unfortunate”.
Ajimobi, DAILY POST reports, had at the weekend held a meeting with some members-elect from the state where he urged them to support the candidature of Gbajabiamila for the Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
