A legal practitioner and human rights activist, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, has added a new twist to the controversy surrounding the citizenship of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to claim by the spokesman for the All Progressives Congress, APC, campaign Council, Festus Keyamo that one does not need a WAEC certificate to become President of Nigeria.
Keyamo said this while appearing on Channels Tv on Sunday night when asked about the eligibility of President Muhammadu Buhari to contest the presidential election.
According to him, if you have occupied the public office for a reasonable length of time, you do not need a WAEC certificate to become president of Nigeria.
3. Zamfara killings: Election will still hold on Saturday – Yari
Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari of Zamfara State has said that the elections into the 14 Local Government Areas will hold in spite of the security challenges facing the State.
Yari made this known at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) on Monday in Gusau.
The governor was represented by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Dankande, NAN reports.
4. Killings/Kidnappings: Police give update on Abuja/Kaduna highway
The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Malam Ahmad Abdurrahaman, on Monday led a patrol along Kaduna-Abuja highway as part of confidence building measures to assure motorists of the safety of the road.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that weeks of abductions along the highway had scared motorists and generated national outcry, forcing police authorities to begin a special operation to clear the road of kidnappers and other criminals.
The Commissioner, who was at Katari village where the Inspector General of Police, Mohammad Adamu inaugurated the special operation, tagged Puff Ader, on April 5, said so far, the criminals have been dislodged and a lot of them killed.
5. What Oba of Benin said about Nigerian Army
The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, has lauded the Nigerian Army for protecting the nation’s democracy.
The Oba gave the commendation on Monday in Benin, when he played host to Lt-Gen Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), in his palace.
He said that the conduct of the army, in conjuction with other stakeholders, had contributed in sustaining Nigeria’s democratic process over the years.
6. Boko Haram: Troops kill 27 terrorists in Borno
Troops of Sector 1 Operation LAFIA DOLE, in a joint clearance operations with Cameroon Defence Force, weekend, encountered Boko Haram terrorists at the Northern part of Wulgo, Tumbuma, Chikun Gudu and Bukar Maryam villages.

A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has said Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s ambition to be Deputy Senate President in the incoming National Assembly is doomed to fail following the court judgements annulling his status as senator-elect.
Emerhor, who is a factional APC candidate for Delta Central Senatorial District, being represented by Omo-Agege, stated this in a statement by his media aide, Mr. Aghogho Orotomah on Monday.
He said, “Omo-Agege is still delusional as the roof of his senatorial and deputy senate president ambition comes down crashing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday night at about 11:00pm.
Tonworio, an indigene of Agada-Ama community of the same LGA reportedly shot his girl friend, Victoria Ekalamene, in the face while answering a phone call from an unidentified man.
