In order to maintain the integrity and it’s constitutional duties, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has debunked an ongoing rumour of it dishing out funds in order to aid those who are allegedly planning to remove the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki from office.
NIGERIA NEWS gathers that the denial of the rumour was made by the NNPC’s Group Managing Director, Dr Maikanti Baru, through a statement made by the corporation’s spokesman, Ndu Ughamadu.
According to Ughamadu, those who started the rumour are only trying to destroy the reputation of the NNPC and its GMD.
He, however, disclosed that the constitutional mandate of the NNPC is far from political affairs urging that members of the public should ignore the rumour.
Recalled that reports on the planned impeachment of the Senate President have continued to occupy the media since his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Several persons have been commenting on the planned impeachment, while some are in support, some others are against it.
The PDP on its part has threatened to take serious action should APC lawmakers try to force Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu out of office.
