His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin praised the Nigerian Army on Monday in Benin when he hosted the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai in his royal quarters, NIGERIA NEWS reports.
The Oba said that the army has played a significant role in maintaining democracy in the country, alongside other stakeholders, dwelling on the fact that they helped in restoring peace and security to the country in general and the neighbouring ones.
The monarch also sympathized with the army over the loss of some of its officials who fought gallantly against insurgency in the country.
Lt. Gen Buratai went to the palace to pay his respects to the Oba and lauded the monarch for the harmony that exists between his kingdom and the Nigerian Army.
He also guaranteed the support of the army and other security organizations in the fight against criminal activities within the kingdom.
